Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (DMCA)
This act is part of United States copyright law and implements two 1996 treaties of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). This law includes the Online Copyright Infringement Liability Limitation Act (OCILLA). OCILLA creates a safe harbor for Internet intermediaries, shielding them from secondary liability for the infringing acts of others.
Before I publish guest submissions, I ask the person submitting the work to assure me that the work they have provided is their own, or to provide me with written permission to use the work. I am publishing their work as a service to them and to the readers of this blog.
I have filled out and submitted an Online Service Provider form to the U.S. Copyright Office, designating an agent for notification of claims of infringement.
