Girl Power scrapbook layout by Cabbie Lopez; used with permission.
This is a guest post by Cabbie Lopez. Like Cabbie, I also think that if your art comes from a place of happiness and joy, it will shine through in the final piece.
I have been having some guilty feelings lately, not scrapping! So, I got my stash, old and new, printed some photos, and scrapped at a slow pace. Argggh! When you stop scrapping for a while, you get this block! At least I do.
But, I am quite happy with the layouts. Like the one above. I created it for myself, not for publication. For my own happiness.
When you scrap, do not think that being published is the most important goal you should have. Do not let your layouts be pressured because of publication issues or because you want to be published. Scrap because you want to. Scrap because it makes you happy! After all, you decided to scrap in the first place because you want to cherish the memories. Not to get published. If it happens, that’s just the icing on the cake.
Cabbie Lopez is a 38-year-old mom to 4 active boys. She is also a passionate scrapbooker, altered art maker, and card maker. She also does crochet and loves to read books. Her blog, Cabbie’s inks, altered, layouts, shabby, is all about creativity which, aside from her children, brings her the most happiness. Cabbie says that everybody needs an outlet in life, an extension of their personality, and that she is glad that she found art.

Wow – thank you Cabbie & to you as well Anne. What a great up lifting blog entry. Not only great eye candy (gorgeous LO) but wise words as well. Our craft should be about us & not being published or reconised (although that would be nice to ;P). Now I’m off to see what else I’ve missed on your blog Anne :D xoxoxoxo
congrats Cabbie!
